Balboa Beer was first brewed in 1910 in Panama City, Panama by the Panama Brewing and Ice Company, which had been founded a year before. In 1939 the company merged with the German Pacific Brewery and the Atlantic Brewing and Refrigeration Company to form Cervecería Nacional. In 2002, Cervecería Nacional was purchased by Bavaria Business Group, which was soon purchased by SABMiller in 2005. SABMiller was purchased by Anheuser-Busch InBev in 2016.
