Origin

United Kingdom, Europe

Bass Brewery was created in 1777 by William Bass in Burton-upon-Trent, England. In 1961 it merged with Mitchells & Butlers to become Bass, Mitchells and Butlers, and then again with Charringtons in 1967 to become Bass Charringtons. Following declines in the late 20th century, the business decided to focus on hospitality, and sold its brewing arm to Interbrew in 2000. Interbrew then merged with AmBev to become InBev in 2004, and then purchased Anheuser-Busch in 2008 to become Anheuser-Busch InBev.
