Cusqueña was created in 1908 in Cusco, Peru by Ernesto Günther. In 2000, the brand was purchased by Unión de Cervecerías Peruanas Backus y Johnston SAA. In 2005, SABMiller purchased the company, and in 2016 SABMiller was purchased by Anheuser-Busch InBev. Due to antitrust regulations, however, the brand was separated from AB InBev in the United States, and there it is sold by Molson Coors.
