Healdsburg Brewing Company was founded by Kevin McGee in Healdsburg, California in 2007. McGee, who was at the time the in-house attorney for Jackson Family Wines, had been homebrewing wine before his wife suggested he switch over to beer. Using his law degree, McGee licensed his garage as a brewery and brewed small batches of the beer, staying at around 1,000 barrels a year and hand delivering his kegs to accounts.
In 2019, McGee and his family purchased Anderson Valley Brewing Company with his investment company Mainsheet Capital. Two years later, he brought back Healdsburg Brewing as a sister brand to Anderson Valley.
