Isenbeck Brewery goes back to at least 1769, in Hamm, Germany, and was named by then-owner Albert Isenmark. Isenmark inherited the brewery from his mother in law. The company expanded steadily through the 18th century, and by 1828 had grown to a newer, larger building.

By the middle of the nineteenth century, Isenbeck was exporting its beers throughout central Europe. Albert Isenmark’s descendent William Isenbeck was head of the company until 1861, when it passed to his three sons Wilhelm, Carl, and Albert. In 1897, the company merged with the neighboring Brauerei Friedrich Pröpsting Nachfolger to form Brauerei W. Isenbeck u. Comp. AG.

The brewery modernized in the lead up to the first World War, expanding its facilities and switching to artificial refrigeration. Most of these gains were lost, however, when over 85% of the company’s facilities were destroyed by the Allied forces in the second World War. The entire facility was rebuilt after the end of the war, and for a time Isenbeck was the most modern brewery in Germany.

Greater concentration of the beer industry throughout the 20th century hampered the brand, however, and in 1990 Isenbeck was purchased by rival brewery Warsteiner. They started marketing the beer as an export product, and focused its sales on oversees markets. It was popular in Cameroon before being discontinued in the 2010s, and in 1994 Warsteiner opened up a subsidiary in Zarate, Argentina to brew the beer called CASA Isenbeck. That entity was sold by Warsteiner to SABMiller in 2010. When SABMiller was acquired by Anheuser-Busch InBev in 2016, they were forced to divest from the Isenbeck brand. it was subsequently sold to the locally owned Compañía de Cervecerías Unidas in 2018.
