Kroon Beer began in 1777, when Cornelis Dieliszoon de Croon took over his wife’s family brewery in Oirschot, Netherlands. Eventually, the brewery became known De Kroon (with a K instead of a C). In 1916, De Kroon took over the competing brewery De Swaan. Nearby Dutch brewery Bavaria Brewery took a 50% ownership stake in De Kroon in 1996, and purchased the remaining 50% three years later.
