Lone Star is a beer brand that was created in 1940 by the Lone Star Beer Company, which was founded as the Sabinas Brewing Company in 1933 before changing its name to the Champion Brewing Company in 1939 before settling on the Lone Star name the following year. In 1976 the brewery was purchased by Olympia Brewing Co. from Washington State. In 1983, the G. Heilemen Brewing Company of Wisconsin purchased Olympia Brewing, and in 1996 Stroh Brewing purchased G. Heilemen. Three years later, Pabst brewing purchased most of the Stroh brands, including Lone Star, which they’ve retained to this day. The trademark was also previously licensed to Filipino company Asia Brewery for use in the Philippines.
