Morland Beer, makers of Old Speckled Hen, was founded in Abingdon, England in 1711 by John Morland. In 1885, the company became a limited company and changed its name to United Breweries. They purchased several other breweries, and went public in 1944, changing their name to Morland and Co plc. In 2000, the company was purchased by Greene King. In 2019, Greene King was purchased by Hong Kong based property company CK Asset Holdings Limited.
