The National Bohemian beer brand was created in 1885. It was initially brewed by the National Brewing Company, which was based in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1975, National Bohemian was sold to Canadian brewer Carling. Four years later, Carling was sold to G. Heileman Brewing. They produced the beer until 1996, when they went bankrupt and their assets were picked up by Stroh Brewing. The debt from the purchase caused Stroh to fail, and in 1999 they sold Champale rights to Pabst Brewing.
