Palm Beer was created by the De Hoorn brewery in Steenhuffel, Belgium in 1929. The brewery, which dated back as late as 1747, flourished with this beer, and in 1975 renamed to Brouwerij Palm. In 1998, it took over Rodenbach brewery, followed by De Gouden Boom Brewery in 2001. In 2016, Bavaria Brewery purchased 60% of the company for nearly €39 million, and by 2021 has purchased the remainder. Bavaria Brewery renamed to Swinkels Family Brewers in 2018.
