The Schöfferhofer brand originated in 1512 in Mainz, Germany, when Johann Koch set up a brewery in the Schöfferhof-Dreikönigshof property. In 1861 the business was taken over by Georg Conrad Rösch, who renamed the brewery Hof-Bierbrauerei Schöfferhof-Dreikönigshof AG vorm. C. Rösch when he brought the company public in 1900. In 1905 it merged with Frankfurter Bürgerbräu Actien-Gesellschaft, and then again with the Binding Brewery in 1921 to eventually become Schöfferhof-Binding-Brauerei AG. The Dr. Oetker organization purchased the brewery in 1952. When they purchased Radeberger Brewery in 2002, they renamed the brewing division to become the Radeberger Gruppe.
