Upper Hand Brewery was founded in 2014 in Escanaba, Michigan by Bell’s Brewery. Larry Bell, who owned Bell’s at the time, always dreamed of starting a brewery in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. In 2021, Bell’s was sold to Lion, the Australian subsidiary of Kirin Holdings, and Upper Hand was included in the sale.
