Device Brewing was founded in 2013 in Sacramento, California by Ken Anthony. Anthony had studied structural engineering at the University of California at San Diego, and had become enamored with craft brewing while there. He met the owner of Alesmith, Peter Zien, who inspired him to get into the industry. Ken and his wife moved to his home of Sacramento in 2011, and soon began looking for places to rent to open up a brewery, and soon began distributing their beer throughout Northern California.
