Northern United Brewing Company was founded in 2008 from the merger of Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales, owned by Ron Jeffries and his wife Laura, with Grizzly Peak and Northern Peak Brewing Companies, owned by Jon Carlson, Greg Lobdell, and Chet Czaplicka. Along with those three brands, the company also operates the Blue Tractor Brewery and several bars and restaurants. They previously owned a distillery called Civilized Spirits, though that has since closed.
