Boulder Beer Company was founded in 1979 in Boulder, Colorado by David Hummer, Alvin Nelson, and Randolf Ware. The company quickly went public, and raised over $1.7 million in its IPO in 1980. Ten years later, the company was again taken private by Gina Day and Diane Greenlee. In 2019, the company announced that it would stop production, and two months later a deal was reached with contract brewer Sleeping Giant Brewing to license the brand and produce, distribute, market, and sell the beer.
