D9 Brewing Company was founded in Cornelius, North Carolina in 2014 by Andrew Durstewitz. In 2020, Durstewitz launched Community Brewing Ventures as a “brewery accelerator,” and organized D9 under the organization. CBV was later rebranded as Bevana, and faced significant legal issues from its relationship with its partner breweries, including Pontoon Brewing. Pontoon later shut down after a failed partnership with Bevana.

In 2024, D9 declared bankruptcy, allowing them to reorganize.
