Real American Beer was created in New Port Richey, Florida in 2024 by Terri Francis, Chad Bronstein, Adam Arviv, and Terry Bollea, better known as WWE wrestler Hulk Hogan. The beer is also endorsed by Hogan, and uses his name and imagery on its labels. Real American Beer is being contract brewed by a number of facilities across the country, including Great Central Brewing Company in Chicago, Illinois, City Brewing Company in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, Summit Brewing in St. Paul, Minnesota, Sleeping Giant Brewing in Denver, Colorado, Stevens Point Brewery in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, and Big Storm Brewing in Tampa, Florida.
Hulk Hogan, who has publicly endorsed Donald Trump for president and even spoke at the Republic National Convention shortly after launching the beer, appears to be courting a jingoistic “America First” branding with the beer, which features a drawing of him menacingly waving the American flag. However, despite his partisan politics, the label art for Real American beer strikes a more cooperative tone. “America’s at its best when united,” reads the label, “And if there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s the simple pleasure of sharing a beer. That’s why we started Real American Beer – to bring people together one beer at a time.”
When the beer was first announced, it was widely suggested that the brand was an attempt to draw former drinkers of Bud Light, who had recently launched a boycott of the beer over their inclusion of trans influencers in their marketing.
Hogan has also publicly stated that he gave up drinking in 2023. “I caught myself…getting too aggressive with alcohol,” he told Men’s Health in June of that year, “So I just had to stop it.”
