Monster Closes Deep Ellum Taproom and Brewhouse
May 30, 2024 – Monster Beverage Corporation has closed its taproom and brewhouse for Deep Ellum Brewing, according to a post on the brand’s Instagram page made today.
The brand will still be available throughout Texas, but the closure will eliminate 25 positions at those locations.
The move follows a similar closure in March at Monster’s Cigar City in Tampa, Florida, as well as another in November of last year at the Oskar Blues facility in Austin, Texas. Production for those brands now takes place at other Monster production facilities around the country.
Deep Ellum was founded in Dallas, Texas in 2011 by John Reardon, who sold the company to craft beer collective CANarchy in 2018. At the time, the beverage group was funded by private equity firm Fireman Capital Partners, but in 2022 the group was sold to Monster Beverage Corporation for $330 million. The breweries operated under that name until earlier this year, when it was announced that the division would be renamed to Monster Brewing Company.
