Tuborg Beer was founded in 1873 in Copenhagen, Denmark by Philip Heyman, C.F. Tietgen, Gustav Brock, and Rudolph Puggaard. In 1894, it merged with De Forenede Bryggerier (“The United Breweries”). In 1903, they entered into a profit sharing agreement with Carlsberg which had an option for a merger until the year 2000. In 1970, this option was acted upon, and Tuborg became a part of Carlsberg.
