What does MAHOU SAN MIGUEL Own?
Mahou San Miguel is the result of a merger of two companies, Mahou and San Miguel, in 2000. Mahou began in 1890 as Hijos de Casimiro Mahou, fábrica de hielo y cerveza (Children of Casimiro Mahou, ice and beer factory). It was started by Enrique, Luis, and Carolina Mahou. San Miguel began as La Segarra in 1953, originally to produce Filipino beer brand San Miguel in Spain. In 1957, La Segarra renamed to San Miguel, while Hijos de Casimiro Mahou became Mahou. In 1992, French food company Danone purchased San Miguel. In 2000, Mahou purchased San Miguel from Danone, creating Mahou San Miguel. Since then, they’ve purchased Arian Breweries & Distilleries in India in 2014, as well as Avery Brewing and Founders Brewing in 2019.
