Divine Barrel Brewing was founded in 2018 in Charlotte, North Carolina by the three friends Gavin Toth, Ben Dolphens, and Scott Davis. Toth had been a restaurant manager at The Pizza Peel and The Improper pig prior to starting the brewery, and acts as Divine Barrel’s general manager. Dolphens had previously been a brewer at Miller Coors, and acts as the company’s head brewer. Davis, meanwhile, is the brewery’s financial officer, with more than twenty years of working in the finance and banking industries.

The company operates on a 10 barrel brewing system, as well as a smaller 2 barrel system for pilot batches, and has two 20 barrel foeders for barrel aging their beer. The taproom, was located across the street from Bold Missy Brewery before they shut down, in the NoDa neighborhood of Charlotte. Community is a central focus of Divine Barrel, and the taproom features events like yoga classes and run clubs on site. The brand now distributes throughout the state of North Carolina, and in 2022 added distribution to the state of South Carolina.
