2 Silos Brewing Company was founded in 2015 in Manassas, Virginia by Marcus Silva & Forrest Morgan. Silva, a former executive at a local construction company, lobbied the Prince William County board of supervisors to purchase the historic Thomasson Barn, a dairy farm building built in 1929 by William T. Thomasson, which has been vacant for 40 years. Silva paid $1.1 million for the property and the surrounding six acres, and brought on Morgan to serve as the company’s brewmaster. Prior to working with Silva and his team, he had worked as a mechanical engineer for a local HVAC company.

The brewery’s name comes from the two iconic silos that are part of the original barn.

Silva folded the brewery into his holding company, Villagio Hospitality Group, which also owns the Trattoria Villagio restaurant in Clifton, Virginia. The team has built several facilities on the 2 Silos campus, including the Brentsville Hall event space, Black Sheep restaurant, and the Farm Brew Live music venue. The company also has plans to build a Tempo by Hilton hotel on site sometime in 2025. That project came about as part of the purchase of an adjoining 5.65 acres of property in 2022 from the Prince William County government. The price for the land was $1.5 million, and was made by Patriot Property Group LLC, a subsidiary of Silva Holdings LLC and an associated company of Villagio Hospitality Group. Silva said that the project was expected to cost about $25 million, and would also include plans to build a distillery that would be run by a separate company from Villagio Hospitality Group.
