McDouglas Beer was introduced by John Martin in Genval, Belgium in 1924, originally as Gordon’s Scotch Ale, before being renamed Douglas Scotch Ale and then later McDouglas Celtic Ales. The Gordon’s brand was also later reintroduced as a separate line. In 2015, John Martin was renamed Anthony Martin after the company’s new owner, John Martin’s grandson.
