Saint Arnold Brewing Company was founded by Brock Wagner and Kevin Bartol in 1994 in Houston, Texas. The brewery claims to be “The Oldest Craft Brewery in Texas.” Wagner had been an investment banker, and after deciding to quit his job he and Bartol put down $500,000 to start the brewery, along with $400,000 from outside investors. The two founders were classmates at Rice University, and originally established Saint Arnold in the far northwest corner of Houston. In 2008, the brewery moved to a new facility north of Downtown Houston, and eight years later established a beer garden and taproom there. In 2021, Wagner revealed on a podcast that the brewery was developing a new whiskey to go alongside the beers.
