SingleSpeed Brewing was founded in Cedar Falls, Iowa by Dave Morgan in 2012. Originally, the brewery was only a 3 barrel system, but in 2016 they expanded to the historic WonderBread building in Waterloo, Iowa, which now houses a 20 barrel system.

In 2024, Singlespeed joined with Backpocket Brewing in a shared-service agreement they called Parallel Brewing Collective. However, both breweries retain separate ownership and control.
