Suprema Cerveza was first brewed in 1967 in Santa Ana, El Salvador by Industrias La Constancia. In 2001, ILC was purchased by South African Breweries, which became SABMiller the following year with the purchase of Miller Brewery in the United States.
In 2016, Anheuser-Busch InBev acquired SABMiller. The Salvadorean authority requested that the company divest itself of the Regia and Suprema brands. In 2018, a deal was finally reached to sell the brands to Cervecería Salvadoreña, a new company that was created for the purchase of the properties.
