Ahnapee Brewery was founded in Algoma, Wisconsin in 2013 by Aric and Brad Schmiling, owners of nearby von Stiehl Winery. It was named after another Ahnapee Brewery, founded just two doors down in 1868 when the town was then named Ahnapee. That brewery shut down in 1886. In 2017, the new Ahnapee Brewery was purchased by their brewer Nick Calaway.
