Altes Beer was founded in Detroit, Michigan in 2016 by Eric Stief, Carl Erickson, and Pat Kruse. The beer is named after a previous Altes Beer brand, which was founded in Detroit in the 1910s before eventually becoming defunct in the 1990s.
