Back Forty Beer Company was founded in 2009 in Birmingham, Alabama by brothers Jason and Brad Wilson and Douglas Brown. Its name is a reference to the back forty acres of a farmer’s plot, which are often more neglected but more fertile, a symbol for the brewing scene in Alabama at the time of the company’s inception.
