Ballast Point Brewing was created in 1996 in San Diego, California, by Jack White and Pete A’Hearn. In 2015, Constellation Brands purchased the brand for $1 billion, an unheard of sum at the time. The move marked the first big move into craft for Constellation Brands, which had recently vaulted into being one of the biggest breweries in the country after purchasing the Modelo Group brand rights in the United States. In 2019, Constellation offloaded the brand to Kings & Convicts, who remains the owner of Ballast Point.
