Bar Harbor Beer was founded in 1990 in Bar Harbor, Maine by Tod and Suzi Foster. They ran the brewery until their retirement in 2008, when they sold it to Evan Contorakes, an advertising executive based out of Florida who also owned a nearby restaurant. Less than a year later, the brewery was purchased again by Atlantic Brewing, also based out of Bar Harbor, who holds the brand to this day.
