Carolina Brewing was founded in 1995 in Holly Springs, North Carolina by Greg Shuck, John Shuck and Joe Zonin. The trio had been living in Seattle homebrewing together, and in 1993 they began looking for a location in the Southeast to start their brewery. In 2011, longtime volunteer brewers Mark Heath and Van Smith were added as partners in the venture. In 2021, the brand was purchased by Jason Howard, a former pharmaceutical sales representative.
