Center of the Universe Brewing was founded in Ashland, Virginia in 2011 by brothers Chris and Phil Ray. The two Florida natives were homebrewers, but brought in Mike Killelea came from Richmond’s Legend Brewing Co as the head brewer for the operation. In 2017, the Ray brothers opened a second brewery called Origin Beer Lab nearby, which acts as the pilot system for Center of the Universe.
