Destihl Brewery was founded in 2007 in Normal, Illinois by Matt Potts with his wife Lyn. Lyn purchased a homebrew kit for Matt for Christmas in 1995, which started his passion for brewing beer. The couple previously started another brewpub concept, but established in 2007 estasblished Destihl Restaurant & Brew Works. The team expanded to a larger production facility in Bloomington, Indiana in 2013, which was followed by another $15 million complex in Normal which was completed in 2017. The new facility replaced the old one, and added a beer hall to the company’s portfolio as well. This facility also allowed Destihl to begin contract brewing, and the increased size means Destihl is distributing its beer as far as California.
