Drekker Brewing Company was founded in 2014 in Fargo, North Dakota by Mark Bjornstad, Darin Montplaisir, Jesse Feigum, and Mason Montplaisir. The four friends had been homebrewing together as a hobby for seven years before starting their brewery professionally. The viking-themed brewery made a splash in the local beer scene when it began, and pretty soon it outgrew its capacity. The team made the decision to start contract brewing their beer out of Brew Hub in Lakeland, Florida. Bjornstad has commented that the decision to brew in Florida was made to take advantage of cheap shipping rates for trucks leaving the state, which usually leave empty after bringing goods into the area.
