Ecliptic Brewing was founded in 2013 by John Harris in North Portland, Oregon. Harris had been a brewer at McMenamins and then Deschutes, both also based in Oregon, before starting his own brewery. In 2021, Ecliptic opened a second brewpub just three miles away, in what was previously Base Camp Brewing’s location. However, that location never thrived, and was closed from July to November of 2022. The additional spaced caused debts for the company, and in 2023, Harris sold Ecliptic Brewing to Great Frontier Holdings, which also owns Ninkasi Brewing, Ashland Hard Seltzer, and other craft brands.
