Falcon Beer was founded in 1896 in Falkenberg, Sweden by John L. Skantzke, originally as Bryggeri AB Falken. In 1955, it renamed to Falcon. In 1977, it was sold to Pripps Brewery, which was then owned by the Swedish state. It was privatized in 1993 and sold to car company Volvo. In 1996, Volvo sold the brand to Carlsberg Group.
