Founders Brewing Company was created in 1997 in Grand Rapids, Michigan by Mike Stevens and Dave Engbers. In 2014, they sold a 30% stake to Mahou San Miguel. In 2019, Mahou San Miguel purchased a controlling interest in the brewery, bringing their stake up to 90%.
