Griffin Claw Brewery was founded in 2013 in Birmingham, Michigan, by Bonnie and Norm LePage along with Ray and Mary Nicholson. The LePages also owned the Big Rock Chophouse (which closed in 2021), and in 2010 began brewing beer there as well. In 2013, the brand was spun off into Griffin Claw. In 2019, Ray Nicholson passed away, which began an ownership dispute that eventually resulted in bankruptcy filings in 2024.
