Grolsch is a well-known brand of beer, originating from the city of Groenlo, Netherlands. It was created in 1615, and in 1895 the de Groen family purchased the brewery. They held a significant stake in the brand until 2008, when the company was sold to SABMiller. As part of Anheuser-Busch InBev’s acquisition of SABMiller in 2016, they agreed to the sale of several of the company’s assets to appease antitrust regulators, and Grolsch was sold to Asahi. While distribution rights in the United States are held by Molson Coors, all beer is produced by Asahi in the Netherlands.
