Hawk Knob Cider was founded in Lewisburg, West Virginia in 2014 by Josh Bennett. Bennett had grown up on the border of Virginia and West Virginia, and had enjoyed hard cider since his youth. After studying oenology in Europe, he founded Hawk Knob upon his return to the United States.
In 2023, Hawk Knob purchased Greenbrier Valley Brewery shortly after it announced it would be shutting down.
