The Heavy Seas beer brand was created in 2003 by Clipper City Brewing Company in Baltimore, Maryland. The brewery, founded in 1995 by Hugh Sisson, had been brewing under the Clipper City name since the 90s, but expanded with the Heavy Seas brand to reach a wider audience outside of its home market. Eventually the brand became the focus for Clipper City Brewing, and now all of its beers are sold under the Heavy Seas name.
