Hoppin’ Frog Brewery was founded in 2006 in Akron, Ohio by Fred Karm. A graduate of University of Akron, Karm had been brewing since 1994 at a local brewery in Ohio. He grew disheartened with the concessions he had to make to cut costs, and resolved to start a brewery that wouldn’t compromise on flavor. A fan of the Danish brewing scene, Karm quickly began exporting his beers to Europe, making it one of the only Ohio beers available in the area. It now can be found in over 18 states and 12 countries. In 2012, it was ranked number 20 in the list of the best breweries in the world by RateBeer.com.

In 2013, Hoppin’ Frog opened a taproom in Akron, which features beer on tap, gastropub food, and a list of rare beers from around the world available for sale.
