New England Brewing Company was founded in 1989 in South Norwalk, Connecticut by Marcia King. In 2001, King sold the brewery to head brewer Rob Leonard, who moved the brewery to nearby Woodbridge. The brewery was moved to a larger facility across the street from their Woodbridge location in 2013. The brewery announced plans to move to West Haven, Connecticut in 2021, but cancelled the move in 2023 as talks with the city council stalled.
