Other Half Brewing was created in 2014 in Brooklyn, New York City by Sam Richardson, Matt Monahan, and Andrew Burman. At the time, it was the first brewery to open in the borough in nine years. Richardson had studied brewing at Oregon State University, and moved to New York to work at Greenpoint Beerworks, where he met Monahan. Monahan introduced Richardson to Burman, and the three began collaborating on the idea of opening a brewery. The team found a space in Carroll Gardens off of Craigslist, and soon began brewing there. Since their founding, Other Half has expanded to a second location in Brooklyn, as well as in Manhattan, Finger Lakes, Buffalo, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.
