Pike Brewing Company was founded in 1989 in Seattle, Washington by Charles and Roseanne Finkel. It was originally known as Pike Place Brewery. The Finkels had been active in the winery and brewery business prior to starting the brewery, having founded the Merchant du Vin import company that was responsible for popularizing many Belgian beers in the United States. Pike Brewing was sold, under the Merchant du Vin company structure, in 1997. In 2006, he purchased Pike Brewing back from Merchant du Vin. When Rose Ann died in 2021, Charles Finkel sold a controlling interest in the company to Seattle Hospitality Group, owned by Howard Wright.
