Rio Grande Brewing Company was founded in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1994 by Scott Moore and Tom Hart. The brewery originally contracted out of Cabezon Brewery, but when that company got out of brewing beer in 1998, Moore and Hart purchased it and began using their brand as well. In 2007, Rio Grande was purchased by Sierra Blanca Brewery, who now operates it, and has since dropped the Cabazon brand.
