Origin

Australia, Oceania

Sheaf Stout was first brewed by Tooth and Co, which was founded in New South Wales, Australia in 1835. The company was purchased by David Jones Pty Ltd in 1981 to strip its assets, and in 1983 they resold it to Carlton & United Breweries, which later that year became a subsidiary of Elders IXL. In 1990, Elders IXL renamed to Foster’s Group, and in 2011 Foster’s Group was purchased by SABMiller. In 2016 SABMiller was purchased by Anheuser-Busch InBev, but due to antitrust concerns many of its American assets were sold to Molson Coors, including Sheaf Stout. They retained the rights outside of the US until 2019, when CUB was sold to Asahi Breweries.
