Terrapin Beer Company is a craft brewery based in Athens, Georgia, USA. It was founded in 2002 by John Cochran and Brian “Spike” Buckowski. The two had worked together previously at the Atlanta Brewing Company. Buckowski had been a Grateful Dead fan, and so named the brewery after the album Terrapin Station. The brewery expanded in 2008 with a round of investment from several investors totalling $800,000. In 2011, MolsonCoors division Miller Coors, under their Tenth and Blake craft banner, purchased a minority stake in the business of less than 25%, which became a majority stake in 2016.
