Thomas Hooker Brewery was founded in 1996 in Hartford, Connecticut by Bill McCarthy. It was originally known as Trout Brook Brewpub, but in 2003 changed its name after its most popular beer, Thoms Hooker Ale, which itself was named after the founder of the colony of Connecticut. Two years prior, McCarthy sold the brewery to Chris Aubin and Jeff Dornenburg, who held it until 2006, when it was sold to a group of investors led by Curt Cameron.
